What Will Your Child Experience?
Children will learn what each instrument looks like, how it is held, how it produces sound, and what makes it unique.
Families will then move through the studio and visit interactive instrument stations.
Your child may explore:
- Piano
- Guitar
- Bass guitar
- Drums
At each station, a Musician Now teacher will help your child hold the instrument correctly and try a simple musical activity.
This is not a formal lesson or an audition. It is a relaxed opportunity for children to explore, ask questions, and notice which instruments they enjoy most.
At the end of the event, they will choose their top instruments and may receive guidance from our teachers about which programs or lessons would be the best next step.
Parents are encouraged to participate, ask questions, and observe which instruments make their child feel curious, confident, and excited.
Concert Band and String Ensemble Discovery Session
Children who are interested in concert band and string ensemble instruments will have a more focused instrument-fitting experience.
The Concert Band and String Ensemble Discovery Session may include:
- Flute
- Clarinet
- Saxophone
- Trumpet
- Trombone
- Percussion
- Violin
- Cello
During this session, students will learn about the size, weight, posture, air support, hand position, and mouth placement required for each instrument.
Because wind and brass instruments require individual mouthpieces and additional sanitation, this portion of the event will be offered in a smaller group.
Students will be able to hold the instruments, select their favorites, and—with teacher guidance—try appropriate sanitized mouthpieces to determine which instrument feels like the strongest fit.
Who Is This Event For?
Instrument Discovery Day is ideal for:
- Children who are interested in music but do not know where to begin
- Students deciding between several instruments
- Beginners who have never taken music lessons
- Children interested in piano, guitar, bass, drums, strings, or concert band
- Parents who want professional guidance before purchasing or renting an instrument
- Families considering private lessons, Concert Band, String Ensemble, or other Musician Now programs
No previous musical experience is required.

Depending on their age, interests, experience, and chosen instrument, we may recommend:
- Private lessons
- Piano Lab
- Mini Violin
- String Ensemble
- Concert Band
- Guitar or bass lessons
- Drum lessons
- Another Musician Now program that matches their goals
Families will have the opportunity to ask questions about scheduling, tuition, instrument rentals, enrollment, and fall availability.
Registration is optional, but families who are ready to move forward may reserve an available lesson or program space before leaving.
